The Rise of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC)
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has once again secured its place in the list of the world’s 10 most valuable companies. The company’s success can be attributed to the growing optimism surrounding the artificial intelligence (AI) boom in the tech industry, which has propelled its stock to record levels.
According to a report by Bloomberg, TSMC’s stock surged by 14% last week, leading to a record market capitalization of $634 billion. Despite a slight 2% decline in early trading on Monday, TSMC still maintains a higher market share than Broadcom.
Expert Analysis
Analysts from Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan Chase & Co. are optimistic about TSMC’s future prospects. With major clients like Apple, Nvidia, and Qualcomm, the semiconductor giant is expected to further advance its market position due to surging AI-related revenue and strong pricing power.
“Generative AI semi is an obvious growth driver for TSMC,” noted Morgan Stanley analysts in a recent report. The company’s global expansion efforts also serve to mitigate geopolitical concerns.
In the first two months of 2024, TSMC’s revenue saw a 9.4% increase, driven by the growing demand for high-end chips in the AI sector.
Nvidia’s AI Boost
TSMC is not the only chip company benefiting from the AI wave. Nvidia, a prominent player in the industry, has also experienced a significant uptick in its stock value this year. The company’s stock price has risen by over 20% in the last month and an impressive 90% in the last six months.
Over the past year, Nvidia’s stock has surged from $234.36 per share to $875.28 per share, marking a remarkable 275% increase in value.
These positive developments highlight the immense potential of AI technology in driving growth and innovation within the semiconductor sector.
