About MEA Internship Program

The Ministry of External Affairs is excited to launch the second edition of the MEA Internships Programme for the year 2023-24.

This edition aims to enhance the intern experience by focusing on providing value, promoting gender inclusivity, and fostering diversity in qualifications, domicile, and socio-economic backgrounds among interns engaged by the Ministry.

Eligibility

Internships at the MEA headquarters are open to Indian citizens with a minimum educational qualification of a graduate degree from a recognized university. Students in their final year of graduation, where an internship is mandatory, are also eligible to apply.

Candidates must be under 25 years of age as of December 31 of the internship year.

Duration

Internships are offered in two terms of six months each: April to September and October to March. The Ministry will engage a maximum of 30 interns per term, with each intern serving a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months.

Selection Procedure

The selection process will be conducted online at www.internship.mea.gov.in. Candidates will go through a Preliminary Screening and a Personal Interview process. The selection will be based on academic performance, with special consideration for candidates from designated regions.

Important Dates

• July 29, 2024: Notification and call for applications for Term-II, 2024
• August 15, 2024: Deadline for receiving applications
• August 22, 2024: Announcement of Short-listed candidates and Call for interview

Stipend

Selected interns will receive an honorarium of INR 10,000 per month to cover basic expenses. Additionally, one-time airfare between the domicile state and Delhi will be provided. Interns are responsible for their own accommodation in Delhi.
