The Congress Party’s Call for Action Against SEBI Chief in the Hindenburg-Adani Row
The Congress party is gearing up for a nationwide agitation on August 22, demanding the resignation of SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch and a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Hindenburg-Adani row. This comes in the wake of explosive allegations made by US-based Hindenburg Research earlier this month.
In its report, Hindenburg Research claimed that SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch had ties to offshore funds implicated in the alleged Adani money siphoning scandal. The Congress party, led by Jairam Ramesh, is calling for a thorough investigation into what they have dubbed the “Modani Maha Ghotala”.
According to Congress leader Supriya Shrinate, the allegations point to a concerted effort to enrich the Adani Group at the expense of fair market practices. The Modi government is under pressure to act swiftly, with demands for Buch’s resignation and the formation of a JPC gaining momentum.
The political landscape has been rocked by these revelations, with the Congress and other parties demanding accountability while the BJP accuses them of stirring up financial instability. Despite the denials from Buch and her husband, the cloud of suspicion looms large over SEBI’s credibility.
As the controversy deepens, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to the calls for a thorough investigation into the alleged misconduct. The Adani Group has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, but the specter of impropriety refuses to dissipate.
