As the sun rises on Friday, the Indian stock market is gearing up for a muted opening. Global markets have set a weak tone for the day.
The Gift Nifty is pointing towards a tepid start for the Indian benchmark index, trading at around 24,834 level, almost 6 points lower than the Nifty futures’ previous close.
Yesterday, the domestic equity benchmark indices closed in the green, with the Nifty 50 surpassing the 24,800 level.
The Sensex concluded the day with a gain of 147.89 points, settling at 81,053.19, while the Nifty 50 climbed 41.30 points to end at 24,811.50.
Nifty 50 has formed a small negative candle on the daily chart at the swing highs, suggesting a potential choppy movement at the resistance level.
Nagaraj Shetti, Senior Technical Research Analyst at HDFC Securities, stated, “Nifty is currently facing resistance around the 24,850-24,960 levels. Although it’s at a crucial spot, there’s no clear reversal pattern in sight yet.”
Shetti believes Nifty’s short-term trend remains positive amid sideways movement and anticipates a push towards a new all-time high of 25,100 levels in the near future.
Curious about what the day holds for Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty? Let’s dive in!
Nifty 50 Prediction
On August 22, Nifty 50 continued its lackluster upward trajectory, closing above 24,800.
Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities, analyzed, “Nifty is gradually moving towards the upper Bollinger band with sustained levels above key moving averages. Bullish sentiments are likely to prevail as long as it holds above 24,650.”
De foresees a potential rise towards 25,000 in the immediate future.
VLA Ambala, Co-Founder of Stock Market Today, highlighted a small Bearish Belt Hold pattern on the Nifty 50 chart, indicating a downward trend.
According to Ambala, Nifty 50 is likely to retest its August monthly high within the next 6–13 days, given its proximity to the all-time peak. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) readings affirm a strong trend.
Ambala’s strategy for the upcoming days involves a ‘buy-on-dip’ approach to capitalize on potential swings.
Support levels for Nifty are projected at 24,780 and 24,650, with resistance expected at 24,840 and 24,950 in the next session.
Nifty Options Trading Strategy
Nifty 50 continued its winning streak for the sixth straight session, wrapping up the weekly F&O series positively. The index has been forming higher highs and higher lows over the past five trading days.
Chandan Taparia, Senior VP, Equity Derivatives & Technicals at MOFSL, noted, “Nifty exhibited a bullish tone on the weekly scale but closed with a bearish candle on the daily chart. Sustaining above 24,700 is crucial for a push towards 25,000 and 25,100, with support zones at 24,700 and 24,550.”
The rise in Put Call Ratio and the decline in volatility signal a prevailing bullish sentiment in the market, Taparia added.
Taparia’s recommendation for option traders involves initiating a Bull Call Spread strategy by buying 24,800 Call and selling 25,000 Call to align with the bullish market sentiment.
Bank Nifty Prediction
Bank Nifty closed 300.15 points higher at 50,985.70, forming a green Doji candlestick pattern.
Vaishali Parekh, Vice President – Technical Research at PL Capital Group – Prabhudas Lilladher, mentioned, “Bank Nifty needs to breach the 51,000 levels decisively to trigger a fresh upward move towards 52,600 and 53,500.”
She expects Bank Nifty to trade within the range of 50,600 – 51,500 levels.
