Welcome to Yes Bank: A Financial Growth Story
Yes Bank, a private sector lender headquartered in Mumbai, has showcased impressive financial growth in the June 2024 quarter. The bank reported a 46.7% increase in net profit, reaching Rs 502 crore, largely attributed to a reduction in provisions. With core net interest income rising by 12.2% to Rs 2,000 crore and deposits growing by over 20%, Yes Bank is positioning itself as a strong player in the market.
During the quarter, the bank saw a 5.1% increase in other income, reaching Rs 1,141 crore. Overall provisions decreased by 41.2% to Rs 212 crore, with recoveries on bad assets playing a significant role. There was also a notable writeback on provisions on investments and an increase in provisions for taxation and non-performing assets.
While addressing asset quality concerns, Yes Bank acknowledged some stress in the unsecured advances portfolio but expressed confidence in addressing the issue in the coming quarters. The bank’s gross non-performing asset ratio remained stable at 1.7%, with gross slippages decreasing to Rs 1,205 crore.
Looking ahead, Yes Bank’s MD and CEO, Prashant Kumar, outlined the bank’s growth strategy, targeting a loan growth of 16-17% for FY25. Emphasizing a focus on the mid-market and small business segments, Kumar revealed plans to open up to 50 new branches in the upcoming fiscal year.
With an overall capital adequacy of 16.5% and core buffers at 13.6%, Yes Bank is well-positioned for future growth and expansion. While declining to comment on stake sale rumors, the bank remains committed to delivering value to its customers and stakeholders.
