Former India Coach Rahul Dravid Spotted at TNPL 2024 Final
NEW DELHI: After leading Team India to victory in the T20 World Cup, former head coach Rahul Dravid was seen enjoying his time off at the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024 final between Lyca Kovai Kings and Dindigul Dragons at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) in Chennai on Sunday.
The official handle of TNPL shared a video of Dravid interacting with a presenter on the sidelines of the match. Dravid expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and reminisced about his fond memories at Chepauk.
“Playing league cricket here would be the fondest, because I played with friends, really enjoyed myself playing league cricket here and of course, some Test matches. I got my 10,000th run in Test cricket here at this ground. Played some fantastic Test matches against Australia, against England.”
Dravid also shared his experiences with the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, highlighting how playing league cricket there helped him grow as a cricketer before representing India.
When asked about the TNPL, Dravid praised the league for providing opportunities to young players and commended the TNCA for organizing it in a spectacular fashion. He also appreciated the presence of veteran player Ravichandran Ashwin in the tournament.
Dravid recently concluded his tenure as the head coach of Team India, leading them to victory in the T20 World Cup. Under his guidance, India also reached the finals of the World Test Championship and the home World Cup last year.
