Recently, officials from Brevard Zoo released a 170-kilogram sea turtle named Bubba into the Atlantic Ocean off Cocoa Beach after three months of rehabilitation in Florida. Biologists estimate that Bubba is between 60 to 75 years old.
Bubba, a male loggerhead turtle, was found by biologists with Inwater Research in St. Lucie County on April 10. After noticing injuries to its front flippers, the biologists carefully transported it to the zoo for further examination.
Upon examination, it was discovered that Bubba likely endured a predator attack that caused injuries to its front flippers. Additionally, he was suffering from an intense infestation of marine leeches, leading to anemia.
