Prime Minister Modi Chairs NITI Aayog Meeting to Discuss Vision for Viksit Bharat 2047
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the 9th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, emphasizing the importance of every state actively participating in the journey towards achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The meeting, attended by Chief Ministers and Lt. Governors, focused on the vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. The objective is to promote participative governance, foster collaboration between the Centre and state governments, and improve the quality of life for both rural and urban populations by strengthening government intervention mechanisms.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significance of states in directly connecting with the people and urged them to play an active role in realizing the ambitions of Viksit Bharat 2047.
In a tweet, NITI Aayog reiterated the Prime Minister’s message, stating, “Viksit Bharat @ 2047 is the ambition of every Indian. States can play an active role in achieving this aim as they are directly connected with the people.”
Challenges Faced
Despite the call for unity and collaboration, some Chief Ministers, including those from Congress-ruled states like Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana, chose to boycott the meeting, citing biases in the Union Budget against their states. Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Sasmit Patra also expressed support for the opposition parties’ stance, accusing the Centre of neglecting states in the Budget.
Key Themes and Vision for 2047
The meeting also addressed key recommendations from the 3rd National Conference of Chief Secretaries, focusing on themes such as drinking water, electricity, health, education, and land and property. These themes aim to enhance accessibility, quality, and efficiency in various sectors crucial for the country’s development.
Furthermore, a vision document is being crafted to guide India towards becoming a USD 30 trillion economy by 2047, aligning with the nation’s 100th anniversary of independence. This vision encompasses economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance.
The journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047 entails collective efforts and collaboration between the Centre and states to overcome challenges and achieve sustainable development for the nation’s prosperity.
