The Governor has formally invited Hemant Soren to take oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 5 pm today as confirmed by Congress state president Rajesh Thakur.
Champai Soren, who was serving as Jharkhand Chief Minister, submitted his resignation to the Governor on July 3. Hemant Soren has now staked a claim to form the new government, marking his comeback after facing legal troubles. Hemant, who was recently granted bail, is poised to resume his role as CM despite legal challenges ahead.
On July 2, JMM’s legislature party unanimously chose Hemant as their leader, and he swiftly submitted his request to the Governor to form the government. The Congress and RJD, part of the INDIA bloc, have extended their support to Hemant’s leadership.
As Jharkhand prepares for upcoming assembly elections alongside Maharashtra and Haryana, the INDIA bloc faces the challenge of defending its government. The ruling coalition must navigate anti-incumbency sentiments to secure re-election in the state.
