WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is always at the forefront of innovation. The latest buzz is about a new feature being tested that will revolutionize communication. The app is experimenting with an in-app translation feature, allowing users to translate messages into different languages seamlessly. This cutting-edge functionality is being developed to perform translations on-device, ensuring user data remains secure and private.
The upcoming live translation feature was first spotted in the beta version 2.24.15.8 of WhatsApp for Android. Users will soon be able to download language packs, with English and Hindi as the initial supported languages. More languages are expected to be added in the future, making communication easier for users around the world. The feature is designed to work within chats, eliminating the need to switch between apps for translation.
Although the translation function is still in the testing phase and not available to all beta testers yet, it’s a promising development. Another exciting feature in the works is voice message transcription. This feature will allow users to convert voice messages into text, adding a new level of convenience to messaging. Reports suggest that a banner will prompt users to transcribe voice messages within the app.
The beta version 2.24.15.5 of WhatsApp for Android also hinted at the voice message transcription feature, which is currently available to select beta testers. Both these features are part of WhatsApp’s continuous efforts to enhance user experience, and while there is no official release date, users can expect these updates to roll out soon.
