Recently, Nationalist Congress Party (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar took a swipe at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, highlighting Shah’s past controversies in Gujarat. Pawar remarked on the irony of Shah, who had previously been banished from Gujarat by the Supreme Court, now leading the Home Ministry.
Addressing a crowd in Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, Pawar responded to Shah’s accusations of him being the ‘ringleader of corruption in politics.’ Pawar stated, “A few days ago, Home Minister Amit Shah attacked me and labeled me as the commander of all corrupt individuals in the country. It’s ironic that the same person who was expelled from Gujarat by the Supreme Court now holds a prominent position in the Central government.”
In 2010, Amit Shah was forced to leave Gujarat for two years due to his involvement in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. However, he was later acquitted in 2014.
Pawar’s criticism of Shah comes in response to Shah’s recent verbal assault on him in Pune, where Shah branded Pawar as the ‘sargana’ (ringleader) of corruption in Indian politics. Shah accused Pawar of institutionalizing corruption and being the focal point of corrupt practices in the country.
Shah also targeted the opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), and Pawar over alleged rumors surrounding milk powder imports in the state. Shah accused the MVA of spreading misinformation and assured that there would be no milk powder imports for the next five years.
Reflecting on the recent election results, Shah emphasized BJP’s dominance and the approval of the Indian people for PM Modi. He highlighted BJP’s consecutive victories and the inability of the opposition to challenge their success, reinforcing the public’s support for Modi’s leadership.
