The Story of Gaurav Kumar: A Fighter for Justice
Meet Gaurav Kumar, a 26-year-old dynamo from the quaint village of Itahari in Munger district, Bihar. Despite hailing from a humble farming family with five siblings, Gaurav managed to graduate from Surendranath Law College, Kolkata in 2021.
However, his journey was not without its hurdles. When faced with the daunting task of paying the steep Rs 15,300 enrolment fee set by the Delhi Bar Council, Gaurav found himself in a tight spot. Undeterred, he reached out to friends and family, scraping together every penny to fulfill his dream of enrolling in 2022.
But Gaurav’s struggles did not end there. Witnessing firsthand the financial burdens that many aspiring lawyers face, he decided to take matters into his own hands. His perseverance and dedication bore fruit when, on July 30, a historic Supreme Court ruling was passed, limiting enrolment fees to a mere Rs 700.
Gaurav Kumar’s inspiring journey serves as a testament to the power of one individual to bring about positive change. His relentless fight for justice and equality has not only impacted his own life but has also paved the way for a brighter future for aspiring lawyers across the country.
