Manipur Chief Minister Meets PM Modi to Discuss State Crisis
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh recently held a closed-door meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. The discussions revolved around the current situation in Manipur, particularly addressing the ethnic violence that plagued the state last year.
Singh visited the national capital to attend a special conclave of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief ministers. His brief meeting with the Prime Minister took place on the sidelines of the event, as reported by NDTV.
The meeting was strategically arranged to outline the plans and strategies at both the central and state levels for resolving the ongoing crisis in Manipur. Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh were also part of the discussions.
Amid pressure from the opposition, the meeting addressed concerns raised about PM Modi’s alleged silence on the Manipur issue. The topic even resonated in the Parliament, with slogans echoing in the Lok Sabha during the PM’s address on July 2.
Where are the Photographs?
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh questioned the absence of photographs from the meeting between the Prime Minister and the Manipur CM.
Ramesh expressed his surprise on social media, wondering why images of the meeting were not shared as is customary. He raised doubts about the authenticity of the meeting, given the lack of visual evidence.
Ramesh further emphasized the importance of photo evidence, highlighting the contrast with a recent post featuring Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu meeting the Prime Minister. The absence of images raised suspicions about the meeting’s validity.
In a scathing attack, Ramesh criticized Biren Singh, questioning the lack of clarity on discussions between the Chief Minister and PM Modi. The citizens of Manipur seek transparency regarding the handling of the state’s tumultuous situation.
