Match Report: Mumbai vs TNCA XI
NEW DELHI: The Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament witnessed a one-sided affair as TNCA XI dominated Mumbai, securing a massive 286-run victory. This win propelled TNCA XI into the semifinals of the tournament, showcasing their formidable skills on the field.
Chasing a daunting target of 510, Mumbai struggled right from the start and eventually collapsed for 223 on Day 4 of the match. Shams Mulani was the lone warrior for Mumbai, managing to top-score with 68 runs. The bowling duo of CV Achyuth and R Sai Kishore proved lethal for Mumbai, picking up three wickets each.
Unfortunately for Mumbai, their star player Suryakumar Yadav could not bat in the second innings due to a reported hand injury. However, sources suggest that the injury is not severe, and Suryakumar is expected to make a quick recovery.
The day started with Mumbai’s openers, Musheer Khan and Divyansh Saxena, showing promise with a 60-run partnership. However, after Saxena’s dismissal, Mumbai struggled to build significant partnerships throughout the innings.
Notable contributions came from Shreyas Iyer and Sidhaant Aadhhathrao, who added 49 runs for the third wicket. Mumbai captain Sarfaraz Khan, who had a poor outing in the first innings, was dismissed for a duck in the second innings.
Shams Mulani and Mohit Avasthi provided a brief resistance with a 46-run partnership for the ninth wicket. Mulani’s knock of 68 off 96 balls included six fours and two sixes before he fell to spinner S Lakshay Jain.
The bowling department of TNCA XI, especially S Ajith Ram along with Achyuth and Sai Kishore, showcased excellent skills to restrict Mumbai’s total. In the first innings, Mumbai’s key players Iyer, Suryakumar, and Sarfaraz also failed to make a significant impact with the bat.
Overall, it was a dominant performance by TNCA XI as they outclassed Mumbai in all departments of the game, earning a well-deserved spot in the semifinals.
