The Top 10 Largest Economies in the World By GDP (PPP)

Did you know that India has already secured the third spot as the world’s largest economy in GDP (PPP) terms? This metric, known as Purchasing Power Parity, focuses on the purchasing power of a country’s currency within its own economy when compared to a basket of goods. And surprisingly, the United States does not top this ranking! In fact, according to estimates for 2024, America’s GDP (PPP) is only 1.9 times that of India’s. Additionally, India’s GDP (PPP) is more than double that of Japan!

So, where do economic powerhouses like China, the US, Japan, and Germany rank on the list of the top 10 largest economies in the world by GDP (PPP)? Let’s take a closer look at the rankings based on data from the IMF’s World Economic Outlook, sourced from EY:

  1. India
  2. China
  3. United States
  4. Japan
  5. Germany

It’s fascinating to see the shift in global economic power and how countries like India are rapidly advancing in the rankings. Stay tuned for more updates on the world’s largest economies and their impact on the global market!
