Harbhajan Singh Expresses Displeasure Over Team India’s Selection for Sri Lanka Tour
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh recently took to social media to express his discontent with the selection of the Indian team for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. The tour includes three T20Is and as many ODIs, and Harbhajan was particularly disappointed with the exclusion of Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Yuzvendra Chahal from the white-ball squads.
Harbhajan Singh found it challenging to understand the rationale behind the selectors’ decisions to leave out these talented players. In a tweet, he questioned, “Hard to understand why @yuzi_chahal @IamAbhiSharma4 @IamSanjuSamson are not part of the Indian Team for Sri Lanka.”

Abhishek Sharma made a mark by scoring a century in just his second international match for India against Zimbabwe. However, he was left out of the T20I squad for the Sri Lanka series. On the other hand, Sanju Samson, who also impressed with a century in India’s last ODI game in December 2023, was excluded from the ODI squad but found a place in the T20I squad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the squad for both formats, with Suryakumar Yadav being appointed as the new T20 captain following Rohit Sharma’s retirement from the format. Key players returned to the T20Is after being rested for the Zimbabwe tour, and the inclusion of Harshit Rana in the ODI squad was a notable addition.

The 22-year-old Delhi pacer, Harshit Rana, earned his maiden call-up for the tour and will join his former Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir in Sri Lanka. He had an impressive IPL 2024 season, bagging 19 wickets in 13 matches for KKR and finishing as the second-highest wicket-taker for the franchise.
