Indian Stock Market Today: A Quick Look at the Current Scenario
Are you keeping a close eye on the Indian stock market? Here’s a brief overview of the current situation:
Indian equity benchmark indices, BSE Sensex and Nifty50, started the day on a positive note on Tuesday but quickly turned red. As of 9:24 AM, BSE Sensex was trading at 82,514.01, down 46 points or 0.056%, while Nifty50 stood at 25,266.40, down 12 points or 0.049%.
The positive start was attributed to favorable global cues and an overall positive sentiment in the market. However, experts are advising caution and a pragmatic approach to stock selection and positions.
According to Osho Krishan, Senior Analyst – Technical & Derivatives at Angel One, “Maintaining exclusivity in stock selection and staying light on positions is recommended. Additionally, closely monitoring global markets, which have a significant impact on our market’s initial tone, is essential.”
Despite facing resistance around 25,350 levels, the short-term trend of Nifty remains intact. A move above 25,400 could lead to the next upside target of 25,800 levels, with immediate support at 25,100, as suggested by Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.
Global markets displayed mixed trends, with S&P 500 futures remaining stable, Hang Seng futures rising slightly, and Euro Stoxx 50 futures experiencing a marginal fall. Meanwhile, the Japanese yen and the offshore yuan saw little change against the dollar.
On the trading front, Balrampur Chini Mills and Hindustan Copper are in the F&O ban period today, having crossed 95% of the market-wide position limit.
Foreign portfolio investors turned net buyers on Monday, acquiring shares worth Rs 1,735 crore, while domestic institutional investors sold shares worth Rs 356 crore. The net long position of FIIs decreased from Rs 2.43 lakh crore on Friday to Rs 2.33 lakh crore on Monday.
