Google, the American tech giant, made a splash at the Global Fintech Fest 2024 in Mumbai with the unveiling of exciting new features for its payment platform, Google Pay. One of the highlights is the introduction of UPI Circle, a groundbreaking feature that allows users to involve family and friends in transactions without the need for them to link their bank accounts. This collaborative approach to digital payments is set to revolutionize the way we manage expenses collectively.
UPI Circle is a testament to Google’s strategic partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), opening up new possibilities for seamless payment delegation among groups. Additionally, Google Pay announced the launch of eRupi, a voucher-based payment solution that enhances the versatility of UPI, making it easier for both individuals and organizations to issue and redeem vouchers for various services and transactions.
Furthermore, Google Pay has ramped up its support for RuPay cards with the introduction of Tap & Pay, a contactless payment feature that enables RuPay cardholders to make secure payments using their mobile devices. The platform has also introduced an autopay feature for UPI Lite, simplifying recurring payments, and ClickPay QR for quick and efficient payment initiation by scanning a QR code.
In addition to these exciting updates, Google Meet is rolling out a new Gemini AI-powered feature called ‘take notes for me,’ which automatically generates notes during video calls. Initially announced in September, this feature is now available to select Google Workspace users.
