The Unwavering Support for Babar Azam: Fans Call for His Return as Captain
During the third day of the first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, the crowd showed their overwhelming support for former captain Babar Azam. Despite not leading the Test cricket team, Babar remains a favorite among fans who wish to see him return to his former leadership role.
A video capturing the moment of affection from the spectators towards Babar has now gone viral on social media. The crowd’s chant, “Humara Kaptaan Kaisa Ho? Babar Azam Jaisa Ho,” resonated through the stadium, showcasing their unwavering admiration for the talented batsman.
After stepping down as captain following a disappointing performance in the ODI World Cup last year, Babar handed over the reins to Shaheen Afridi. However, Afridi’s stint as skipper did not yield the expected results, leading to Babar’s reinstatement as the leader of the white-ball formats.
Meanwhile, Shan Masood continues to captain Pakistan’s red-ball team as they strive for their first victory in the longest format of the game.
In the ongoing match, Bangladesh put up a spirited fight as four of their top seven batters scored defiant fifties, guiding them to 316-5 in response to Pakistan’s 448-6 declared.
This demonstration of support from the fans highlights Babar Azam’s stature as a revered cricketer and potential leader for Pakistan cricket in the future. It will be interesting to see how the team management responds to the voices of the supporters calling for Babar’s return as captain.
