After his departure from the Delhi Capitals, Ricky Ponting is still enthusiastic about pursuing coaching opportunities in the Indian Premier League. He recently revealed that the team is looking to appoint an Indian coach to succeed him.
Despite not achieving the desired success during his time with the Delhi Capitals, Ponting expressed his desire to coach again in the IPL. He mentioned that his goal was to bring silverware to the team, which did not materialize.
According to Ponting, the Delhi Capitals are likely searching for an Indian-based head coach who can provide more time and availability during the off-season. He emphasized the importance of spending time with local players in India, a task he couldn’t prioritize due to various commitments.
Ponting also mentioned that there might be coaching opportunities for him in the coming months, and he would love to be back coaching in the IPL in the next season.
While discussing coaching responsibilities at the international level, Ponting clarified that he is not interested in taking on such roles. He cited the time constraints associated with coaching an international team as a reason for his decision.
Instead, Ponting will be part of the commentary crew for Australia’s upcoming T20Is and ODIs in England. He highlighted his existing commitments and the need for a balance between work and personal time.
