Budget 2024 Expectations: Enhancing STEM Education and Digital Infrastructure
Budget 2024 expectations Live: More measures aimed at enhancing STEM education expected
Anticipating the final budget for 2024, we are hopeful for more initiatives focused on enhancing STEM education, expanding digital infrastructure in rural areas, and elevating educational standards to meet global benchmarks. Building on the progress made in the interim budget, with a strong emphasis on boosting STEM education and digital literacy, the upcoming budget is poised to further reduce educational disparities with specific programs targeting underrepresented groups.
The interim budget marked significant advancements by promoting gender inclusivity in STEM education, with 43% of enrolled students being women, showcasing strides in educational equity. Key highlights included a proposed reduction in GST rates on educational goods and services from 18% to 5%, aimed at enhancing the affordability of education. Additionally, the selection of 14,500 schools for upgrades under the Education Policy 2020 demonstrated a commitment to modernizing educational infrastructure.
The allocation of substantial funds for digital teaching resources, ICT upgrades, and initiatives integrating advanced technologies such as AI and VR into school curricula laid a strong foundation for anticipated progress in the sector. The upcoming National Education Policy is expected to prioritize digital literacy and effective utilization of educational technology, with a focus on expanding digital infrastructure in rural communities to bridge educational gaps.
Public-private partnerships will continue to play a crucial role in enriching educational experiences through enhanced collaborations and incentives for ed-tech firms. Strategic investments in research and development, state-of-the-art laboratories, and ICT infrastructure upgrades will be vital in preparing India’s youth for future challenges in a technology-driven world.
As India moves towards becoming a knowledge-based economy, these strategic investments in education will be pivotal in shaping a skilled and competitive workforce capable of driving sustainable growth and development,” says Anurag Gupta, Co-Founders of STEMROBO.
